Aragon is home to renowned royal icons. One of them is Catherine of Aragon who married the infamous King Henry VIII. After centuries of nurturing lines of royal families, Aragon’s beauty is now known throughout the world. France borders Aragon. It has three provinces namely Zaragoza, Teruel and Huesca. Zaragoza is the region’s capital. Unlike other Spanish regions, Aragon doesn’t have a constant sunny climate all throughout the year. The region is bordered by mountain ranges, which lets its visitors enjoy cooler climates in some areas.
Zaragoza is the most visited province in Aragon. Its strategic location between Madrid and Barcelona makes it a favorite side-trip. If we look closely at the province, Zaragoza deserves to be a main destination. It houses a lot of museums for the history-savvy. These include the Zaragoza Museum, the Seo Tapestry Museum and the Ethnological Museum.
The province of Teruel is known for its Mudejar style sculptures. It’s a feast for the art aficionado. On the other hand, Huesca is the destination for the nature tripper. It offers Aragon’s visitors a generous view of majestic landscapes.
The influence of religion is dominant in Aragon. The city is dotted with a lot of churches. The more famous ones are the Church of San Martin, San Pedro and El Salvador. These churches boast of beautiful bell towers. The Holy Grail was believed to lie in the Aragon Monasterio de San Juan de la Peña. This is located in Jecca and is dedicated to St. John.
No region can beat Aragon when it comes to wine. The region is famous for its D.O. Cariñena from Zaragoza. The wine from Carignan is also popular.
Aragon gives you an authentic Spanish taste of everything—from wine to historical monuments. The churches in this region are simply unmatched.
