Bravo El Costa Brava! Costa Brava translates to “Rugged Coastâ€. The name can also roughly describe the town’s tough vibe. It stretches from the north of Barcelona over the province of Girona and is situated in the autonomy of Catalonia. Its 200 km coastline is in the northern region of the Spanish Mediterranean Coast. Although locals understand English and Spanish, their main language is still Catalan.
The warm climate is perfect for lazing around especially in the months of April and October. Its closeness to the Mediterranean Sea lets its visitors enjoy a pleasant breeze almost all year round.
Costa Brava is groomed to be the ultimate tourist destination. Famous resorts such as the Tossa de Mar, Estartit and Lloret de Mar are second homes to Costa Brava’s frequent visitors. Tossa de Mar served as the backdrop of the “The Flying Dutchman†which starred Ava Gardner and Frank Sinatra back in the 1950s. Estartit, on the other hand, gives its visitors a good view of the famous seven Medes Islands.
Costa Brava is the prime destination for adventurous tourists. The region has resorts, which are ideal venues for good games of football and squash. Tourists can also immerse themselves in different water activities such as parasailing, diving and surfing. Costa Brava has a generous share of beaches.
The region’s beauty also enamored the heart of master painter, Salvador Dali. The surrealist painter’s home is in Port Lligat. The Theatre Museum in Figueras, which is a quick drive from Dali’s home, contains some of his famous artworks. Salvador Dali is famous for his surrealist painting with melting clocks. Time surely melts under the summer sun of the region. There are too many activities to vie for.
Costa Brava is a refreshing sip of Spanish adventure. The alluring coastline of the region must not be missed.
