Manoir de La Foye built in the 1820s and has now been converted into this delightful complex of five gîtes. The Charentaise properties have been superbly renovated to a very high standard whilst retaining all of their original charm and atmosphere. Within the grounds are gardens with mature trees, a walnut orchard and a swimming pool. The stone gîtes are designed to provide year-round comfort in a supremely peaceful hamlet, well off the beaten track. Located in Charente-Maritime, the second sunniest region of France, Le Manoir de La Foye is in the rural hamlet of La Foye de Vinax. It is within 10 minutes drive of Néré, which has all the necessary amenities. Vineyards, extensive fields of wheat and sunflowers as well as the magnificent Forest of Aulnay surround the area. The region is renowned for its Cognac, Pineau, seafood, especially oysters, cheese and friendly people. A gloriously tranquil, unspoilt setting for a relaxing holiday.

A fully equipped kitchen, including a full size hob and oven a microwave, dishwasher and fridge; ample crockery, cutlery and glassware are also provided. Each gîte has UK satellite TV and DVD player. There is a library with a selection of DVDs, videos and books for customers use. All the gîtes have full central heating except for L’Ecurie, which has electric heaters.

A personal outside seating area with an outside table, chairs and a parasol for shade and their own gas barbeque. There is also a lovely summer kitchen area with more tables, chairs and a traditional BBQ made from the old bread oven. There is a lovely swimming pool with plenty of loungers in a location that gets the sun all day long and situated far enough from the gîtes so as not to cause disruption to those wanting a quiet afternoon nap.

Just fifteen minutes by car you will find the immaculate town square of Aulnay. The charming town boasts a full range of boutiques and shops including an Intermarché supermarket. The town has weekly markets, bars, hairdressers, chemists and a delightful kitchen shop that serves tea. Aulnay Church is a World Heritage Monument and is regarded as one of the top ten Romanesque churches in France.
Other towns in the region include Angoulême, Chef Boutonne, Cognac, La Rochelle, Poitiers (Futuroscope), Saintes, St. Jean d'Angély, and Royan. All these, and the coast, are an hour or so away.
