General
:
In a sheltered farm setting, a mile or two from sea and surf, this quartet of immaculately restored outbuildings exudes lightness, brightness and comfort. Oak floors are heated, plasma screens abound, kitchens burst with utensils, beds are electrically primed to recline (!) and the whole places oozes Cornish chic. Philippe Starck bathrooms are resplendent with white fluffy towels, beds are topped with super-soft pillows. Throughout are intriguing pieces of wood furniture; one cottage has outdoor seats built from a far off goldmine’s supporting timbers. Step outside and all is as beautifully maintained as in. A subtropical approach leads to manicured young lawns and borders and a barbecue for warm evenings. There’s also a communal shed for bikes and boards and a shower to wash off the sand; the owners, who run a plant nursery and farm shop on site, are committed to quality and have thought of everything a couple or an extended party might need. Children would adore it here, surrounded by Tamworth pigs, Jacob sheep, hens, geese, goats, doves, a garden with a play-tower and a football area – and 26 private acres.

From its setting just off the Atlantic Highway, the cottages are only a 20 minute walk by farm track to the village of Marhamchurch with it friendly pub serving good food, especially the Sunday lunch. The bustling beach town of Bude with its many great beaches, bistros and bars is just a few minutes drive or a 40minute walk away. Crooklets and Summerleaze beaches are ideal for young families thanks to their gentle slopes, golden sand and rock pooling opportunities. Both are patrolled by lifeguards in the main season. Summerleaze is also home to one of Britain's few tidal pools, which fills up with seawater at every high-tide and makes for ideal safe bathing. Bude's also a great spot for eating out. The newly opened Castle Restaurant overlooks the canal and Summerleaze beach and comes highly recommended with its Chef coming from London's Bibendium and using only the finest local ingredients.

Notes
:
There are some lovely places to eat in Bude from The Castle Restaurant where Kit Davies serves only the finest, freshest local ingredients to Life's a Beach serving fresh fish, both overlooking Summerleaze beach with it's gorgeous coastline and sunsets. Elements also comes highly recommended serving top notch food or if you would like to go further afield you could vist Rick Stein's Fish and Chip shop in Padtow or Jamie Olivers "Fifteen" at Newquay.
If traditional pub grub is more you style then you'd be in the right place, The Bullers Arms in marhamchurch, The New Inn in Kilkhampton or The Bay View, overlooking Widemouth Bay all serve quality food to name but a few.
