Columbard Cottage is one of a cluster of four stone cottages that make up "La Vendange".
The property has been set up especially for families with primary school age children, toddlers and babies.
The Nie valley (just East of St. Jean D’Angely) is about 40mins drive inland from Rochfort, 1hr South East of La Rochelle airport and only 4 hrs drive from the port of St. Malo. Our location is the midst of a part of hidden France, where time seems to have stood still for centuries.

A former Napoleonic era fortified farm, we are well established (10 years) and centrally located for easy access to both the coastal and many inland attractions of Charente-Maritime. All the cottages feature four poster beds and some have spa baths or tiled family-sized stone baths.
• The South facing, heated in-ground pool and large heated toddler splash pool are in their own separate, fully fenced area with own lawn and sun-terrace.
• The enclosed central garden/playground is gated and within sight of all the cottages, so that parents can relax while the children play.

The property is set in several acres of grounds with a large enclosed main lawn/playground, separate enclosed pool area with two heated pools (one 50m2 in ground pool and also a 5m2 splash pool at 65cm depth).
There is a large playing field for ball sports (soccer nets in situe).

The property is situated in the heart of the tranquil Nie valley (known locally as "the valley of the sunflowers"). We are about 50km inland from the coast, so not really close enough to go to the beach every day, but most of our guests go to the coast once or twice during their stay. Our "Saintonge" area of coastal Charete-Maritime is famous for its historic villages and market towns. There is a local farmers market virtually every day in one village or another ! This is one of he few remaining unspoiled areas of France and driving around, you might think that you had been cast back to Napoleonic times.
