A magnificent region providing a refreshing alternative to other undiscovered areas of France. From the steep wooded gorges and the medieval bastide villages of the Northern Tarn to the breathtaking foothills of the Pyrenees this is a land waiting to be explored. Visitors never cease to be amazed by the beauty and tranquillity of the countryside and the sophistication and architecture provided by such cities as Toulouse and Pau. Walkers love the mountain villages bordering Spain. Further North the beautiful landscape is often called the "Hidden Dordogne". We are five minutes from Vic en Bigorre where there is a selection of shops, bars and restaurants as well as a large local market each Saturday selling all the gastronomic delights of the season. Peaceful location and an excellent base for sightseeing. There is a farmers market for every day of the week, plus night markets and during the summer every village seems to be 'en fête'... Classical, jazz and country festivals in abundance! The local gastronomy is available wherever you go, direct from the farms, and in the supermarkets, and the restaurants in the area have some terrific menus, with the locality to Spain influencing the dishes, which can range from simple country fare to haute gastronomy! The property is situated just over an hour away from many ski resorts in the Pyrenees so very easy to go for a days skiing. Many golf courses within easy reach including 18 hole course at Tarbes (20 mins) and the oldest course in France at Pau (45 mins) created by two English officers after Waterloo...
