NEWS!!! Jan '09 - MALVERN has been voted one of the hottest holiday destinations in the world by AOL’s guide to the very best places to visit in 2009, and is highlighted alongside exotic locations in Hawaii and China.
Just 3 miles from the town of Great Malvern, Cygnet Lodge is well placed to allow the visitor easy access to a wealth of places to visit and sights to see. The house stands in grounds of 5 acres with its own brook and an ancient moated area which is now covered in woodland around which our guests are invited to wander as they wish.
Hanley Swan is a classic, beautiful English village with its village green, oak tree, Swan Pool, pub, village stores and butcher's shop all within a hundred yards of each other and only 5 minutes walk down the road outside Cygnet Lodge.

Cygnet Lodge is a part Victorian, part half-timbered farmhouse first built in the 1600’s. It is surrounded by 4 acres of pastures including an interesting mediaeval moated area. The house was extended in 1896 and it is this section which is used by our guests. No longer a working farm, it has been restored to its former glory by its present owners and is full of character, being set in spacious and colourful private gardens.
Bedroom Facilities
:
Each of our large bedrooms is furnished to an extremely high standard, with an excellent en-suite shower room. When providing B&B (which ceased in 2006), we achieved an English Tourist Board grading of Five Diamonds with a Gold Award, the first and one of only three in the Malvern area. That put us in the top ½% of the UK’s Bed & Breakfasts! Now that we offer those same facilities as a self-catering holiday home, guests can be assured of the highest levels of comfort and tranquillity. We have spared no expense to ensure the quality of the surroundings. The bedrooms are provided with everything you would wish to find and the double room has a direct dial telephone. Also provided is a built-in dressing table with all-round illumination and a power socket for a hair drier. Fresh flowers and a complimentary, ’welcome pack’ complete the welcome. Tasteful double glazing and controllable heating add to the comfort of the rooms, and sumptuous carpets, curtains and soft furnishings complete the feel of unashamed luxury. There are two bedrooms: one double and one twin-bedded.
Bathroom Facilities
:
Each room has a high-quality shower room with sink, WC and towel radiator - the showers are thermostatically controlled high-pressure units.

Barbecue , Car Parking , Garden

The property is surrounded by pastureland with wonderful views pretty much unbroken by humanity! There is plenty of on-site parking and a large area of garden for guests' use immediately outside the front door. Ample garden furniture is provided. A gas barbecue is available on request.

Locally, Malvern and Upton-on-Severn are within 3 miles and offer very different environments: Malvern is famous for its 8 mile range of granite hills which are said to have inspired Elgar's Enigma Variations. Adjacent to its Winter Gardens, the town of Great Malvern boasts a fine and recently renovated theatre hall complex which offers plays, films and concerts all year 'round. The Three Counties Showground is just over a mile from Cygnet Lodge and hosts many different exhibitions and shows throughout the year.
Notes
:
Coast/Beach
If you are so inclined, a trip to the seaside is entirely possible: Weston-Super-Mare is an hour and a quarter away; Cardiff is 1 hour and Swansea (the Gower) is less than 2 hours. Strange to say, there is also a beach on the edge of the River Severn just 10 miles south of us!
Golf
There are 8 golf courses within 15 miles, the closest being the wonderful Worcestershire Golf Club (est. 1879) on the eastern slopes of the Malvern Hills just 2 miles away.
Special interest holidays
Our corner of Worcestershire is blessed with a labyrinth of footpaths and open countryside. The 8 mile range of the Malvern Hills offers a ridge walk which yields views which are second-to-none. We have plenty of maps and local knowledge to assist the explorer in this walker's paradise!

The nearest airport is Birmingham International (45 mins), though Coventry and Nottingham East Midlands are only a short while further up the M5/M42 motorways.
