In Umbria it is virtually impossible to divorce nature from artistic expression. Within half an hour's drive in any direction you can discover proud cities or charming hamlets, where Umbria’s artistic past and present can be experienced in breathtakingly-beautiful settings. The Festival of Spoleto is, of course, one of the major attractions in late June/early July for dance and classical music, but many other festivals abound too, such as Umbria Jazz, Foligno’s Quintana or Assisi’s Calendimaggio. So, whether you want to know more about Saints Francis and Clair, Jacopone da Todi, and il Perugino, or want to know why so many others in history adored Umbria, such as Dante, Petrarch, Giotto, Raffael and Goethe, this is your ideal base.

The unique, rustic and yet cosy environment, completely hewn out of the mountain rock, is ideal for reading one of the many books placed at the client’s disposal, for listening to music, watching the colour tv, or for just simply relaxing with friends and family. From time to time it holds sculptures by some of Europe’s emerging contemporary artists. The modern lounge suite is also a ready-made single bed. Complete with oven, stove, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, glasses, etc, not to mention a fridge, a dishwasher and a heart-warming kitchen fireplace ideal for cooking your ‘salsicce’, the kitchen-cum-dining area comfortably seats twelve people at its antique wooden table. The reaction is always the same: Oh my God!
Looking down from the castle, I Cerri seems like a small medieval hamlet, complete in itself. Looking out from the main terrace, you literally dominate the Spoleto Valley. Even on the hottest August days, with the fountain gurgling away and a slight breeze always floating up from the valley, you are sure to remain comfortable, pampered and refreshed. The BBQ area at the back is ideal for large-scale entertaining, and the main terrace below, the site of many a jolly festa, is the perfect setting for dining in the best, Umbrian fashion!
